Asher investigates the molecular mechanisms of 16p11.2 deletion syndrome, a genetic disorder strongly linked to autism and neurodevelopmental delay, with a focus on how metabolic dysregulation and altered cellular signaling shape cortical development in mouse models. Using metabolomics (LC-MS), Western blotting, and quantitative gene expression analyses, his work aims to identify novel biochemical mechanisms that may explain the neurological phenotypes associated with this copy number variant.
